The expedition to Tanzania was split into three parts: climbing Kilimanjaro, tour to several National parks and climbing Oldoynio Lengai.

We arrived to the airport in Nairobi in Kenya and drove to Arushe in Tanzania. From Arushe we continued by jeeps through Moshe to Maranga. We chose the normal „Maranga route“ to the summit of Kilimanjaro. First day we started from Maranga (1 700 m) and walked up to C1 Mandara (2 800 m), second day continued to C2 Horombo (3 745 m), third day to C3 Kibo (4 700 m). At midnight we started our climb over Gillman’s Point, a place on the volcano crater at 5 680 m, from which we took the final route to the true summit of Kilimanjaro - Uhuru Peak (5 895 m). We descended the same day to C2 Horombo, and attempted to climb Mawenzi the following day, achieving the altitude of 4 800 m. We returned to Arushe day after this attempt.

We started our safari trip by jeeps from Arushe driving West and visited four National parks: Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngoro-Ngoro and Serengeti.

In Serengeti we turned North and then continued in a South-East direction along the border with Kenya. We stopped on the way under the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai. In one day we have climbed this volcano from BC at 1 400 m to the summit at 3 008 m. We continued back to Arushe and to the airport in Nairobi in Tanzania, from which we flew back to Europe.

We drove over 1 400 km, walked 120 km, summitted the highest peak in Africa - Kilimanjaro (5 895 m) and the active volcano Oldoinyo Lengai (3 008 m). The temperatures ranged from minus 10 oC just below the summit of Kilimanjaro to plus 37 oC in our camp below Oldoinyo Lengai.
