Motto: Disappointment, defeat and despair are also the tools showing us the way. (Paolo Coelho)
Pictures are from an expedition to Tian Shan in Kyrgyzstan. We planned to climb Karly Tau (5 450 m), Peak Chapayev (6 300 m) and Chan Tengri (7 010 m). We flew to base camp on the North Inylchek glacier near Kyrgyzstan, Kazachstan and Chinese border by hellicopter. Weather was bad, it snowed, avalanches were falling. Acclimatization climb to Karly Tau took longer than expected due to bad weather. During the climb to Peak Chapayev we spent several days waiting for better weather, we returned few times from attempt to move further up due to avalanche danger or because of avalanches on the ascent route. We ran out of time for a chance for Chan Tengri summit attempt. The Lord of Spirits remained an unfulfilled target.

Motto: Glory lies in the attempt to reach one´s goal and not in reaching it. (Gandhi)
Pictures are from expedition to Satopanth (7 075 m) in Garhwal Himalaya, India. „Satopanth“ means „the path to heaven“. The steep and exposed climbing in high altitude tested our physical and mental capacity as well as our determination. Two of us summitted on September 21st 2009. For our daring we have been punished by an earthquake, which caught us on the most exposed part of the mountain, while we were climbing on the front points of our crampons on an ice wall 1 500 m above the Satopanth Glacier.

Motto: Everything life has to offer is worth the experience
Pictures, which will accompany you in 2009, are from an expedition to Tharpu Chuli, insignificant mountain in Nepal Himalaya, surrounded by several seven thousand meter peaks and dominated by an eight thousand meter Annapurna I. Tharpu Chuli is just below 6 000 m, but has a number of attractive attributes: it is not frequently visited, the climb leads over two glaciers, rocky part as well as a technical climb in snow and ice, all topped-up by a steep ridge climb to the summit with an amazing view all around. The approach trek leads through valleys, is much longer than the climb itself, but even that is an interesting change compared to expeditions to higher mountains.

Motto: If you want your dreams to come true, you have to wake up
Pictures, which will accompany you through 2008, are from an expedition to Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world (8 201 m), which stands on the border between Tibet and Nepal. The expedition to Cho Oyu in September 2007 has fulfilled my dream to join an expedition to one of the highest peaks in the world at least once in my life. Dreams can be much more realistic or even more challenging, but the most important thing is to wake up and make them come true. Dreams are beautiful, but it is nice to have something to remember in the future.

Calendar 2007

kalend2007Motto: Journey is the goal
Pictures from the international expedition Spantik 2006 illustrate the wild beauty of Karakoram, white majesty of Spantik (7 027 m), but also the surprises of nature well known by those, who set out on a journey to remote and barren areas of our planet. They come determined to reach the summit, try to overcome the traps set by wilderness and weather, leave with respect and humbleness. Those, who realize that the goal is not in reaching the summit, but in the atempt to do so, reveal the nature of love for the mountains which keeps them coming back.

Calendar 2006

kalend2006Motto: Smile needs no translation
Pictures of people from the mountain areas of Nepal, Pakistan and China are a reminder of places, where one is concious of the strength of an offered hand and the significance of mutual trust. They capture those, who accompanied us on expeditions or whom we met in the mountains and mountain valleys. They live there content with their fate, which does not provide them with earthly possessions but with a sense of happines from everyday life. We had no problems to communicate with all of them – smile needs no translation.

Calendar 2005

kalend2005Motto: Nearer to the stars then to people
Photographs from Expedition Mustagh Ata 2004 document more than one month in Pakistn and China. The journey took us along Karakoram Highway from Islamabadu to Kashgar. Trek in Pakistan over Baltoro Glacier in Karakoram served as acclimatization before moving to China for the attempt to climb Mustagh Ata in Pamir. The aim of the Expdition was to climb Mustagh Ata (7 540 m) using the western route. I hope the following pictures will make the passing time in 2005 more pleasant.
