Veronika BartovaMy name is Veronika Bartova née Oliverius, I am a medical doctor and I love mountains in any season. I also love photography and I belive the two go togehter well.  I live in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic.

I started climbing in Slovakia in the High Tatras and in Western Tatras „Rohace“. I continued in the Alps and then other European, African and Asian mountains and mountain ranges. My dream came true when I first climbed in Himalayas and Karakoram.

I joined climbing expeditions as a climber but also as expedition doctor. Several times I have tested my practical knowledge of high altitude medicine in extreme conditions.

My first photographic achievement was in a high school photo competition. In 2006 I had an exhibition of my photos from various expeditions in Josef Adamec´s Gallery in Prague, in 2007 in the Czech Post Photogallery under the patronage of the „Zizkov Gentlemen´s Club“ and the Czech Post. Since 2004 I prepare a calendar using photographs from my trips. In 2007 I won 2nd place in a photographic competition of the journal „Lide a Hory“ (People and Mountains) in the „sport in the mountains“ category with a photo from Pakistan.

Some of my climbs, expeditions and treks: Gerlach Peak (2 655 m), Slovakia; Monch (4 100 m), Switzerland; Kilimanjaro (5 895 m), Tanzania; Piton des Neiges (3 069 m), Reunion; trek in Nepal Himalaya through Makalu Barun National Park crossing several cols over 6 000 m and Barun Glacier to Sagarmatha National Park; expedition to Tharpu Chuli (5 663 m), Nepal; expedition to Mustagh Ata (7 546 m) in Pamir, China, reaching the altitude of 6 700 m; crossing the Baltoro, Biafo and Hispar Glaciers in Karakoram, Pakistan; climbing Workman Peak (5 895 m) and Spantik (7 027 m) in Karakoram, Pakistan. With the expedition to Cho Oyu (8 201 m) in Tibet Himalaya I have reached the altitude of 7 200 m and during expedition to Satopanth (7 075 m) in Garhwal Himalaya, India, reached the altitude of 6 600 m.

The desire to climb other mountains and trek other mountain ranges leads me to new expeditions.
